Cambridge School of Weston

Cambridge School of Weston, a co-educational K-12 private school in Massachusetts, recently embarked on an $18 million capital campaign and contracted Libretto and design partner kor group to craft the case statement. The campaign, the largest in the school’s history, focuses on new, “green” science buildings and expanding the school’s endowment. In June 2008, with 12 months remaining in the campaign, 75% of its target sum had been raised.

The case statement featured an innovative use of profiles of CSW faculty, students, and alumni in complementary pairs. The profile of the head of school was juxtaposed with that of the campaign’s lead donor; New Yorker cover artist and children’s author Ian Falconer ‘77 was profiled alongside saxophonist and jazz composer Jane Ira Bloom ‘72; and an alumnus was profiled with his daughter, who will graduate from CSW exactly 50 years after he did.

Libretto and kor group were tasked with creating the campaign logo, case statement and launch invitation. With a theme centering in part on a sculpture on CSW’s campus bearing the words “We Are,” Libretto used the “Me | We” concept to illustrate the school’s commitment to both individuality and community. The response to the campaign materials has been overwhelmingly positive, and CSW has subsequently engaged Libretto to assist with its annual giving programs.
