Huntington Theatre Company
Based at Boston University, the Huntington Theatre Company
is one of New England’s leading professional theatres. One of
the Huntington’s primary goals for its 2001 season was to
increase overall subscriptions, with a particular focus on
younger subscribers. Working with our creative partner,
kor group, Libretto was asked to write the brochure and
direct mail pieces that would serve as the centerpiece of the
subscriber acquisition efforts.
Libretto’s writers conducted a market research survey,
reviewed scripts slated to be performed that season, and
interviewed many of the directors and performers associated
with those works, including Artistic Director Nicholas Martin
and playwright Christopher Durang. The resulting brochure
focused on the theme “Come to the Huntington Theatre and Be Transformed.” The direct mail piece featured personal ads “written” by characters from the various plays.
