Thalia House

When the Lahey Clinic was establishing a residential facility for liver transplant patients and their families, the organization asked Libretto to provide a name that would reflect the clinic’s mission of healing and support.

Our research led us to Greek mythology, and to the figure of Thalia, one of the three Graces (the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, who brought joy and good will to both gods and mortals). Thalia’s association with transition and transformation reflected the connotations of hope and restoration that the Lahey Clinic hoped to embody. The descriptor “house” was added to reinforce the sense of a welcoming atmosphere and a place of sanctuary.
